The Barefoot Guide to Working With Organisations and Social Change
This is a practical, do-it-yourself guide for leaders and facilitators wanting to help organisations to function and to develop in more healthy, human and effective ways as they strive to make their contributions to a more humane society. It has been developed by the Barefoot Collective. The guide, with its supporting website, includes tried and tested concepts, approaches, stories and activities.
Building the Capacity of Local Groups
This guide is very basic and can be used with very new grassroots groups to help build their understanding and capacity. The guide covers:
How to be an effective group in working and acting together
How to improve record and note keeping
How to enhance the communication and openness within a group
How to encourage groups to take positive, autonomous action without outside intervention
Capacity Self-Assessment (CASA) is a tool for gaining an overall impression of an organisation, giving a picture of the stage of its development and providing insight into its current and potential impact. Although CASA is modelled on other assessment tools, it aims to be specifically relevant to Christian development organisations. It is good to reflect, affirm what is good and seek God’s guidance. The CASA tool is divided into three assessment modules:
INTERNAL ORGANISATION – who we are
EXTERNAL LINKAGES – who we work with
PROJECTS – what we do.
This Toolkit provides an outline of the general steps needed for successful organizational development of an NPO. The Toolkit was designed to be used as a guide for NGO representatives who already run NGOs but are struggling with a multitude of decisions and tasks – real-life issues like staffing, media outreach, budgeting and fundraising.
The toolkit is based around a case study of a Croatian NGO (GONG).
